Here are some of the things that we do:
Disaster Services Volunteers

Take training in American Red Cross Disaster Services. As a Disaster Volunteer youth can help with the following activities:
- Produce comfort kits for Disaster clients.
- Run the switchboard in times of disaster.
- Assist with Mass Care.
- Assist with Shelter management.
- Teach emergency preparedness courses.
Fundraising
Youth Volunteers have been instrumental in the raising of funds for the American Red Cross. Here’s how you can help:
- Leadership opportunities on fundraising committees.
- Coordinate your school or community in fundraising drives.
- Assist at Red Cross Special Fundraising Events.
- Plan and implement Youth Council fundraising activities.

Measles Initiative
It is a long-term commitment to control measles deaths in Africa by vaccinating 200 million children, preventing 1.2 million deaths over five years.
Young people in the United States are helping to make an impact on the lives of those threatened by measles everyday! Everyone can help, but if you are under the age of 25, there are some great ways that you can take a stand in the fight to end measles deaths in Africa

Blood Services
The American Red Cross provides nearly half of the nation’s blood supply collecting more than 6 million units a year from volunteer donors) to patients in 3,000 hospitals across the country through its national network.

Every two seconds, someone in American needs blood.
Young people can get involved in other areas of the American Red Cross, like organizing blood drives in their school creating awareness and importance of donating blood among youth.

Community Outreach
Represent the Red Cross in a variety of ways in your community:

- Distribute information about the Red Cross at Community Health and Volunteer fairs.
- March in Community Parades.
- Start a Red Cross Club in your school
Since the founding of the Junior Red Cross in 1917, youth and the Red Cross have been partners. Today, the involvement of young people with the Red Cross is more important than ever. Our goal is to provide young people with meaningful opportunities for education,training, and volunteer/community service so that they remain a part of the Red Cross family throughout their lives. Young people up to age 24 make up 30 percent of all Red Cross volunteers.
Education
Become an instructor in American Red Cross programs.
- Become a HIV/AIDS peer educator.
- Become trained in Health and Safety courses such as Babysitting, Life Guarding, and First Aid and CPR.
- Become part of the Measles Initiative.
Office Work
Learn workplace skills by volunteering in our offices after school, on vacations and during the summer.
- Assist with data entry.
- Volunteer as our telephone receptionist.
- Assist with departmental projects.
- Participate in a Red Cross internship.
